How to Unlock Your iPhone at Home (Step-by-Step Guide)

Carrier locks prevent your iPhone from working with SIM cards from other networks. If you've finished your contract or bought a second-hand device, unlocking it gives you the freedom to switch carriers and use local SIMs when travelling.

What you'll need

  • Your iPhone's IMEI number (dial *#06# to find it)
  • Your current carrier name
  • A Servidge account (free to create)
  • A working internet connection

Step 1 — Find your IMEI

Open the Phone app and dial *#06#. The 15-digit IMEI will appear on screen. Write it down or screenshot it.

Step 2 — Place your unlock order

Head to Servidge Services and select the unlock option that matches your iPhone model and carrier. Most orders are delivered within minutes.

Step 3 — Back up and restore

Once you receive the confirmation email, connect your iPhone to iTunes or Finder, back it up, then restore it. The restore process registers the unlock with Apple's servers — after this your iPhone will accept any carrier SIM worldwide.

Step 4 — Insert a new SIM and test

Pop in a SIM from another carrier. You should see the carrier name appear in the top-left corner within seconds. Make a test call to confirm everything works.

Tips

  • If you see "No SIM card installed" after inserting the new SIM, restart the phone.
  • If the unlock is not taking effect, make sure you're restoring (not just updating) in iTunes/Finder.
  • iCloud Activation Lock is a separate issue — unlocking a carrier lock does not remove an iCloud lock.
